Jack passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from malignant melanoma after a 10-year battle against the disease.
He was born March 2, 1931, in White Center in Seattle, the son of Patrick Thomas Biggs and Marguerite Olive (Duffy) Biggs.
He married Shirley McEvoy on March 1, 1962. He spent 34 years working at Todd Shipyards Corporation in Seattle, first in the pipe shop and then working his way up to ship repair superintendent. He retired from the shipyard in 1987, and he and his wife moved to a piece of land they had purchased in 1983 in Happy Valley.
He built his beloved wife the home she wanted, then he started Jack's Plumbing. He leaves many friends in Sequim and always greeted them with a happy smile and a cheerful word.
He looked forward to his moose hunting trips to Canada. Being out in the wilderness was the experience he loved.
He is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 50 years; his daughter, Cheri Shore; (Roger), and his son, Duffy Patrick Biggs (Marianne).
A tribute to his dad from Duffy: "My Dad, Jack Edward Biggs, passed away Tuesday, March the 13th, after a long battle with cancer. He was 81.
My mom was by his side. They were happily married for 50 years. He went peacefully at home with his family.
The house was quiet. Snow was falling outside. He loved the outdoors; he loved the snow and this place he built for us in Sequim.
It was the right place and a good day for him to go.
I feel that I am unable to express in words enough gratitude for the immense outpouring of love and respect for the man that our family has received from friends and neighbors.
Everyone who met Jack was instantly charmed, falling under the spell of his quick, intelligent humor, bright smile and those friendly blue eyes.
Happy hunting in heaven, Dad!
