On wednesday April 11th my dear friend Alberta Binki Thompson passed away. Today she will be buried and due to distance and other circumstances I  unfortunately will not be able to attend. This breaks my heart so I offer my deepest most heartfelt condolences, love and respect to my Makah sisters Sarah, Cindy, Tracey and to all of our friends and family.  I will hopefully see you all in Autumn.  Alberta was an amazing woman. A strong and proud Makah from Neah Bay Washington.  I am blessed to have had the privilege of being her close friend. She opened her arms to my son Cailan and I during Makah Whaling days and we stayed in touch ever since. She was a very important part of our life, after I moved back to Ireland I stayed in touch by phoning her several times a week.  Till the end she always referred to Cailan as her "grandson" she loved us wholeheartedly and we loved her the same. I want to say a special thank you to Margaret Owens and Will Anderson for never forgetting her... They were both there, loving, minding and treating her like family right up till the end.  Binki was known to the world as a fierce and fearless defender of the Gray whales, they have lost a great advocate in her. I knew her as a motherly figure and I have lost part of my heart. Binki I will love you forever and I'll never forget! I promise you that I will continue to fight to save and protect the worlds great whales and their habitat. Enjoy the next adventure and try not to worry about us. Erin xx

My condolences to the Makah community, Elder Thompson's family and people who have come to know her and love her. I am grateful to learn of her courage and love and the challenge Makah community have faced through Sea Shepherd's website. This story will live in my heart forever. Compassion is what we need in this world. And this story tells all that.

Alberta was our friend, I am a Sea Shepherd Supporter, I worked in the shipyard, and I helped bring her on to our ships.

I'm 50 miles east of Yellowstone National Park, where I can get any 3 people in for free, as I have a free lifetime pass, half off the campgrounds. Anybody can contact me.

I tried to make contact with 2 other SSCS supporters. Can't find them yet.

RIP Alberta, AKA Binki.

We will carry forth from now on

I send deepest condolences to all who were so graced with Alberta "Binki" Thompson presence.

Though I never had the honor of meeting Binki, I have long known of her her courage and voice for the whales as a true inspiration. Binki, you will always be in our hearts, remembered for your wisdom and great love.
