C. Yvonne
Jenson
Sep 27, 1929 — Feb 8, 2021
Port Angeles
Our Dear Mother at 91, went home to the Lord on February, 8 2021.
Christine Yvonne (Ireland) Jenson was born 9/27/29 in Loughborough, England she emigrated with her mother Nancy Ireland/Walker to the USA via the RMS Queen Elizabeth in 1946 to New Bedford, MA. Immediately after taking a secretarial course, Yvonne and her Mother moved to Palo Alto, CA where they both married and attended classes and became naturalized USA citizens. Yvonne married William L Gruver in1949, they had 4 children and raised their family in the Bay Area CA. In 1977, Yvonne married her beloved husband Alan Jenson; after retirement, they moved to Port Angeles, WA with a few years of snowbird travel to Wenatchee and Arizona, then returned to Port Angeles.
At 30 years old Yvonne accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and rejoiced in being a born again Christian. Throughout her life, she expressed such gratefulness for those who had shared who Jesus is and shared this love to others. She was active in church and also employed as a church secretary for many years.
Yvonne had sensitivity and compassion to those around her, she was a great listener, gently gave suggestions when needed; often one would feel better after spending time in her presence. She carried over many cute, unique, English traits and expressions into conversations which will be remembered and carried onto many of us!
Mom loved flowers in her garden and always enjoyed the presence of a pet companion. She enjoyed crocheting and made many baby blankets, often donating them to local pregnancy centers. Mom's favorite pastimes were her crossword puzzles, often stating "If didn't have these, I would go crazy!" When family and friends think of Mom- Yvonne it is this: A Cup of tea, her little shaggy dog, Sees candy, Chanel No. 5 and crossword puzzles and most of all that she is now "content" to be home with the Lord!
Yvonne is survived by her 4 children, sons Michael & Cheryl Gruver (Gig Harbor, WA), John Gruver (Spokane, WA), William J & Annabel S. Gruver (Shelton, WA) and her beloved daughter Nancy & Mark Shamp (Port Angeles, WA), 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial service pending at this time.
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles was entrusted with her arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook for her family at www.drennanford.com .
