Obituary

Cecil Cameron, 87, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 6th after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

Cecil was born August 27, 1933 in Port Angeles to Deroe & Alta (Gillispie) Cameron. He attended school as a young child in the Old Dungeness Schoolhouse and finished at Sequim High School where he met and later married Ruth Ann Boyce. They shared 68 years together, showering their children, granddaughters, and great grandchildren, with love and great times.

Cec proudly dedicated years 1953-55 to the Army and from there, a job with Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Port Angeles where he retired after 42 years as a multi mechanic.

Proud of his heritage as a descendant of Blue Mountain pioneers, grandparents Amos & Sarah, Cecil followed in the footsteps of family and discovered his love for the great outdoors. Annual big game hunting trips to the frigid mountains of Idaho and Wyoming with his son, brothers, & nephews, and hitting his favorite fishing holes before the break of dawn were both high on his list of passions. Traveling, building their own home, trail riding on horseback, camping with family & friends, and filling his limits of crab and shellfish always entailed a tale of fun and laughter.

Cecil crossed many paths over the years, building lifelong friendships along the way. Dearest, were those made on ballfields. 25+ years were spent behind the plate as catcher, and managing his winning teams in fastpitch. With fond memories of his many years of coaching boys baseball and football, he took pride in watching them progress each season, and becoming awesome ball players.

He was preceded in death by both parents, brothers David M. & Amos "Ben" Cameron, and his sisters Lucille Hutt, Florence Golson, and Jeanne Lamoureux; and survived by his wife, son Bradley Cameron, daughter Rhonda (Dan) Jalbert, granddaughters Melanie (Erik) Heikkila & Kari Pittenridge, sisters Eleanor Cameron & Shirley Northness, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Our sincerest and heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Clancy, Home Healthcare, & Volunteer Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Cecil be made to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County: 829 E. 8th Street, Port Angeles, WA 98262 or www.vhocc.org.
