Obituary

Charles Andrew Rogers was born in 1953 to Carolyn (Hagman) Rogers, an administrative assistant, and Raymond Rogers, a flight mechanic in the Air Force, on Pepperell Air Force Base in Newfoundland, Canada. The family moved to Yuma, AZ, then Falmouth, MA in the early 1960s. In 5 th grade, his father retired from the military and the family settled in Sacramento, CA. During this time he made lifelong friends, enjoyed summers at Camp Noel Porter, and won several awards in the California Cadet Corps. He graduated from El Camino High School in 1970.

After high school, Charles went to American River Community College and began playing guitar. He then transferred to UC Davis. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physics in 1974. After working a couple of engineering jobs, he took graduate courses in Biomedical Engineering at California State University, Sacramento.

In 1978 he met Linda Shively at a singles' group at a local church. The couple was married in June 1979. Their daughters were born in 1994. Charles had a rich faith life. He started taking Education for Ministry classes in 1998 in Saratoga, CA and then mentored classes in Saratoga and Port Angeles, WA. He also was a Stephen Minister, loved playing guitar for Cursillo, and sang in church choirs, among other church activities.

Charles had a long career in the semiconductor industry, including product and design engineering at National Semiconductor, Data General, Ferranti InterDesign, and finally Exar Corporation, where he worked for 18 years. His name is on two patents.

In 2008 the Rogers family moved to Port Angeles, WA for the lower cost of living and small-town life. He was very active in his church and in the local Kiwanis Club, for which he served as President for one year.

On November 16, 2022 Charles died of lung cancer. He was grateful for the three years he gained from treatment. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Carolyn and Ray. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Michaela (Max Goeke) and Jessalyn Miller (Joe), and sister Joan Kodani, plus many loving friends and family members. His memorial service will be held on January 14, 2023 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 510 East Park Ave, Port Angeles, WA, 98362. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
