Frederick J. Kerr, Jr. (1938-2025)

Frederick John Kerr Jr., 86, of Port Angeles, WA,  died peacefully at home on September 2. He was born in Trenton, NJ in 1938 to Frederick John Kerr Sr. and Margaret S. Cooke. Fred graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving for two years at a Nike missile base in Buffalo, NY. He began his journalism career as a reporter at the Asbury Park Press in Asbury Park, NJ in 1965 and rose through the ranks to become Managing Editor of the paper in 1997, a position he held until his retirement in 1999.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Daley, his son James Kerr of Forks, WA, and his wife Lauren, his step-daughters TenBroeck Cripps of Philadelphia, PA and Jillian Cripps of San Francisco, CA., and her husband Gregory Towers, and his grandchildren Madeline and Nate. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Andrew.

In lieu flowers, the family suggests a donation to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County for their outstanding support for patients and their families.
