Obituary

Gloria Gay Collins, affectionately known to nearly everyone as "GG" and lovingly called "Meme" by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at her home in Port Angeles, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. She was 80 years old, born on October 13, 1945.

GG was an unbelievably special person. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and at home, and it seemed that anyone who met her couldn't help but love her. She was always happy, always smiling, and had the very best giggle—a sound her family will forever hold close to their hearts.

Her home was a haven for all who entered. Her dinner table was endlessly expandable, and absolutely no one left hungry. Nourishing people was one of the many ways she showed her love. A full house and a full table, surrounded by the people she cared about, were some of her greatest joys.

GG had a gift for making things beautiful and loved decorating her home. She loved roses, chickens, and crafting in all its many forms. She was rarely without a beloved pet by her side—most often a little white dog—though over the years her heart and home made room for many dogs and cats.

Above all else, GG adored her family. She didn't need elaborate plans or special occasions to be happy; as long as her family was nearby, she was content. Simply having everyone around her was enough. She loved deeply and generously, and her family always knew just how much they meant to her.

GG is survived by her husband, Paul Collins; her five children—Andrea, Jeff, Paul Jr., Shannon, and Paula; eight grandchildren—Danielle, Delaina, Shaylynn, Carmen, Stuart, Sabrina, Brooklynn, and Kendall; and nine great‑grandchildren—Phoebe, Maizie, Landon, Ezra, Blair, Isaac, Aryia, Eli, and Evelyn—each of whom carries with them the immeasurable love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Virginia Martin; two sisters, Suzanne and Elizabeth; and two brothers, Jackie and Milton.

GG loved Jesus with all her heart and had a deep, unwavering faith in Him. She knew where her hope was found, and that faith was woven into the way she lived and loved others. Though our hearts are broken to lose her here, we have no doubt that Meme is now home with Jesus. We can only imagine the joy on her face—and hear that wonderful giggle—as she entered Heaven. We know this is not goodbye forever, but simply goodbye until we see her again.

Our family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the home health and hospice teams who cared for GG with such kindness and compassion and helped make it possible for her to remain at home, surrounded by the people she loved.

Meme never cared for funerals or sadness, and in keeping with who she was, there will be no funeral service. She would much rather be remembered with smiles, laughter, and a house full of loved ones.

GG leaves behind a family forever changed by having been loved by her. We will miss her smile and her unforgettable giggle. We will miss her open home, her full table, and the warmth she brought wherever she went. We will miss simply being together with her, because being together was always what mattered most to Meme.

There will never be another GG, and there will never be another Meme quite like ours. We will miss her more than words can say, but we know she is home with Jesus. And because of the faith she held so dearly, we look forward with hope to the day we will see her again.
