Obituary

Gordon Oscar Amiot, son of Richard Baptiste and Cecilia Bertha Beaudry born September 25, 1941, in Crookston, Red Lake Falls County, Minnesota, died in Port Angeles, Washington October 27, 2022 of age-related causes. His parents, a sister Maxine and brother Alan preceded him in death. His younger sister Melanie Amiot Murray survives him as does his wife of 57 years, Dorthy Coventon, two children Tim (Julie) and Cheryl (Brad Archibald) and four grandchildren: Ryan and Jessica, Scott and Madelyn.
Gordon grew up living on 9th street off Peabody spending hours with neighborhood kids down Peabody Creek. He attended grade school at Queen of Angels and graduated high school in 1960. A life time member of Queen of Angels Catholic church his faith illuminated his life from his days as an Alter boy in the 1950's, shuttling his two children Cheryl Archibald (Brad) and Tim (Julie) to CCD and "Sunday Night Live", to his participation in the "8:30" choir in the 80's, and St. Vincent de Paul in his retirement. He lived a life of service.

After high school he did a tour of duty on the aircraft carrier Lexington in the South Pacific where he spent his off-duty time exploring exotic sites. Gordon married Dorthy Coventon November 6th, 1965 after meeting her at the Sequim Irrigation Festive six months earlier. Soon after their marriage, they made their home on Herrick Road on the Upper Elwha. Finishing and maintaining the home and property his father in-law, William Coventon had begun, working as a mechanic at Lannoye Motors as a journeyman auto body mechanic, being a dad and neighbor filled his time until Lannoye's closed in the early 1980.

Gordon finished his working years with the Port Angels School District as a janitor and moved into retirement just in time for grandchildren. The years following were spent creating wooden toys, models, furniture, and anything else he could think of for those he loved. We knew, we know, that the beautiful creations which hold places of honor, exhibit his hard work, creativity, love, and prayer. At our many annual family camping trips, he could be found working on wood working projects and swapping stories of fast cars, great music, and the mischief to be found on the North Olympic Peninsula in younger years.
