Jane Claire
Elvrum
Dec 10, 1941 — Apr 26, 2024
Jane Elvrum, a long-time resident of Port Angeles, WA, passed away unexpectedly on 4/26/2024.
Jane is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Elvrum. Jane and Marvin were happily
married for 38 years and are now together again for eternity in the embrace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jane lived a rich, full life and touched countless souls throughout her personal and professional life.
Jane was born in 1941, the fourth of 8 children born to Andrew and Gladys Mattheisen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandmother and sister. Jane leaves behind her daughter,
Mary Spisak (Bob Jr), grandchildren Bobby Spisak Ill (Julie), Christina Dahl (Nicholas) and great
grandchildren Bobby (IV), Corbin Spisak, Nathen, Andrew, Seth and Rosie Jane Dahl. Jane is also
survived by her stepson Mitch Elvrum (Marcie) and their children Thomas, Conner, Natalie, and Lauren Elvrum.
Straight out of high school, Jane felt a calling to join the Women's Army Corp (WAC) serving with pride as a stenographer for the Criminal Investigative Department in the US Army. She was stationed on Governor's Island, New York where she met and married Jerry Wood (deceased) and gave birth to her daughter, Mary. Jane had many employment opportunities throughout her life as an Army wife. She never ceased to learn or challenge herself with new positions all over the world. Jane loved to travel and experience all of the cultures of the countries she was visiting. The highlight of one of her travels was to meet the Pope John Paul when she was visiting Austria and Italy.
At their last duty station at Joint-Base Lewis - McCord (JBLM), Jane went back to college to study computer programming and graduated with honors. This change in career resulted in being relocated to Port Angeles, WA to set up an off-site office for Allied Data supporting the PA community's local logging industry. When Allied Data moved away from Port Angeles, Jane decided to stay in PA and began working for Eclipse Timber (Weyerhaeuser), helping to set up their computer programming. She then began her career with Clallam County, establishing a county-wide computer system, then moved to the County's Personnel and Risk Management Department as Risk Manager and then Safety Office.
It was in Port Angeles where Jane found the love of her life and soulmate in Marvin Elvrum. They established a beautiful home with a lovely garden. Jane was a devout member of both Queen of Angels and St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she served as a greeter, usher and was a eucharistic minister bringing communion to nursing homes and shut-ins. Jane had many hobbies including creating a multi-generational family website and cookbook to share her recipes. Jane also created handmade and thoughtful cards for those in her circle.
Since retiring, Jane and Marvin enjoyed building a park like garden on their vast property. Jane continued to pursue her love of travel and adventure with her friends and her daughter, Mary. Jane's favorite activity was to visit her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their families.
