Port Angeles

Obituary

Jil went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on October 13, 2025.  She was 84, lived in Port Angeles.  Jil will be dearly missed.  She was known as a loving and humorous mom, grandma, and great-grandma.  As her grand-daughters so aptly posted on Facebook, "at heart, she was full of warmth, kindness, and care for everyone around her." She loved each one of her giant family, which included many friends that became extended family.  In her own words: "I like outings and being surrounded by my family".  She especially loved Jesus and her faith was important to her.

Jil was born in Battle Creek, MI where she grew up.  She was raised by her mom and had 2 brothers.  She loved roller skating and eventually met her future husband at a roller rink. She was married to Willis K Belville for 41 years before he passed away in November 2001.  They began their married journey in Denver, CO and then moved back to Battle Creek, MI to raise their family.  Jil worked in an ice cream shop and often talked about how she enjoyed meeting people.  She eventually went to Beauty School in Battle Creek and graduated as a beautician.  She worked at Ocine's Beauty Shop for several years, but ended up doing most of her hair styling for elderly out of her home. Jil volunteered at her church most of her life and she led a youth group with Christan Youth Crusaders for years.  She took in several kids to help them through life's struggles and just showed them what it was like to be loved.  Jil's hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, collecting jewelry, and beading--but definitely not cooking (she would laugh here and give a classic funny face).  Bill (or Willie, for family) and Jil raised their children in Michigan and then moved to Pennsylvania in 1978.

After all the kids left home, Jil and Bill spent a few precious years travelling the U.S. in their motorhome and then settled in Eustis, FL.  Their motorhome adventures ignited her love for travel.  She and her husband dreamed of a trip to Alaska, but they were never able to.  After her husband's passing, Jil moved to be near her son, Rick, in Lomax, IL.  She and her daughter, Tami, were able to take a cruise to Alaska in 2010 where she saw the whales that she so longed to see.  In 2019, she relocated to Port Angeles, WA where she lived at Laurel Place Assisted Living.  While in Port Angeles, her favorite places were by the water—especially Lake Crescent or Ediz Hook.  Moving to Port Angeles also gave her the chance to develop closer relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Their presence brightened her eyes and it was noticeable!

Jil is survived by 1 of her 2 brothers, 2 children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.  Surviving family members include her baby brother, Scott Arnold (Livingston, TX); 2 of her 4 children, Tami Toscano (Vince, Port Angeles, WA) and Rick Belville (Melinda, Lomax, IL); 10 grandchildren (!!) – Tayla (PA), Lauren Belville-Greene (Cortland, NY), Josh Belville (IL), Keegen (Kasey, Lancaster, PA) , Korissa Belville (Phil, Lancaster, PA),  Kalea Barstow (Zach, Lancaster, PA), Kyler Belville (Lancaster, PA), Tim Smith (Renee, Port Angeles, WA)., Virginia Love (Hunter, Sheridan, MT), and Aspen Smith (Randy, Port Angeles, WA), and her great-grandchildren (Liem, Max, Saoirse, Rylynn, Jase, Elijah, Asher, Walt, and Ransom).  As much as she enjoyed those here who surrounded her, she was truly ready to be re-united in heaven with Bill, her 2 sons (Todd and Marty), and her brother, Joel.

Truthfully, Jil had several long-term health issues for many years.  Those who knew her best were consistently amazed at her continued humor and willingness to go out amidst her suffering.  Her last days were thankfully less plagued by pain, but replaced with severe confusion caused by Lewy Body Dementia.  Even so, this was not her identity.  She wanted life.  It's a cruel disease that her family wishes to create awareness.  Her family would like to thank everyone for the many condolences and kindness expressed.  A private family service will be held in Port Angeles, but we welcome all memories of Jil or messages to the family here.  If a donation is your way of expression, please direct them to the University of Washington's Memory and Brain Wellness Center Fund at https://give.uwmedicine.org/give/?source+FND-126899

Final words: If mom were here, she'd say, "reach out, smile, love each other, love Jesus, pray, hug" and "don't forget those that are old or sick" .

Welcome to our family.
