John Michael Orr passed from complications due to small cell bladder cancer on July 9, 2022. He was born in Joplin, Missouri September 19, 1943. He was the only child of John Jasper Orr and Edith Newman Orr Whiteside.

John was a man of many interests as reflected in his reading interests and work history. John worked as a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad while getting his degree in history from UCLA. He later received his MBA from Cal State East Bay. He also worked as an air traffic controller and became manager of a software development team.

John was the loving husband of Barbara Jean Jensen Thornley Orr for 47 years. He was the proud father of Todd Thornley and Season Jensen Cain. He is the proud uncle of Taryn Jensen Salmon. Lily the labradoodle is the love of his life.

John is survived by his wife Barbara, son Todd (Jennifer) Thornley, daughter Season (Jeffrey) Cain, granddaughters Chloe and Sierra, and niece Taryn (Colby) Salmon and family and Lily the labradoodle.

John was one of the good guys. Our family feels so fortunate to have had him as part of our lives. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
