Obituary

Laura Mae Gregory, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord, on June 2, 2019, in the peaceful presence of her children and grandchildren.

Laura was born May 1, 1933, in Aberdeen, to Frances and Delmer Hinkle. She was the oldest of seven children. While she was still very young, the family moved to Clallam Bay. After graduation from Clallam Bay High School, Laura began working in the local movie theater. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jerry King Gregory. They married June 30, 1952, in Edmonds.

Laura and Jerry built their dream home in the Pysht River Valley where they would live for the rest of their days. It was here that they raised their six children.

Together, they grew the most beautiful rhododendrons for which they were well known across the Olympic Peninsula.

While raising her children, Laura continued to cook in various Sekiu restaurants through the years. Her skills in the kitchen are legendary in the Clallam Bay/Sekiu community.

She loved her annual crabbing trips with her sisters, which involved hours on the boat fishing for crab, playing pinochle, and crafting.

Laura enjoyed painting and created numerous projects for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Clallam Bay Presbyterian Church since it's founding in and served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. For many years she was a part of the church's weekly ministry at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

While we mourn the loss of Laura here on Earth, we take peace in the fact that she is now reunited with her loving husband, Jerry, whom she has missed greatly for the past 28 years.

Laura is survived by her children, Pat (Marie) Gregory, Jeri Gregory, Cynthia (Charles) Irwin, Kelly (Kim) Gregory, Brett (Gillian) Gregory, Lori (Felix) Larrechea; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley Haukeli and Sally Karbo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Frances and Delmer Hinkle; brothers, Delmer and Charles Hinkle; sisters, Phyllis Forbes and Nancy Gullickson; and grandsons Colin Gregory and Spencer Pilatti.

A memorial service will be held in Laura's honor on July 7, at the Clallam Bay Presbyterian Church, time TBA.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles is entrusted with her arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook for her family at www.drennanford.com .
