Obituary

Marcy died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on April 6th 2026 due to complications from Dementia.

Marcella Jean Schmidt was born November 13th, 1943 in Port Angeles, the youngest of 6 children to Hulda and Theodore Schmidt

She graduated from Port Angels High School in 1962.

She married the love of her life David Hoglund on April 19th 1963. They made their life and raised their children Steven and Rebecca in Port Angles. Dave and Marcy were active in their married life participating in dance club in the early years, then when raising their children they enjoyed camping with friends and family, fishing, gardening and enjoying the outdoors. Marcy became an avid fisherman and caught many fish especially on their trips to Alaska.
She enjoyed her trips to the coast and was always up for a road trip to see the wonder of our national parks near and far.
Family came first for Marcy and her priority was always her husband, children and grandchildren who she enjoyed a close relationship with.
Marcy loved the water, the mountains and the beauty that surrounded her. Taking rides to the Spit, the nearby lakes and the Elwha River became daily rituals, and eased her mind in the last years of her disease.

Marcy worked as a clerk and book keeper at Grandview grocery for 40 years. Sweetheart is a word used to describe Marcy, as she never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone she came across.

She was an active, life long member of St Matthews Lutheran Church, in addition to being baptized, confirmed and married there.

She is survived by her husband David, her daughter Becky, son in law Gary, grandsons Jack and Joseph (Meghan)
Son Steven (grandchildren Cami, Maddie, Gunnar, Gaard)
Her sisters and closest friends Lillian, Lorna and brother in law Marvin , brother Ted (Jeanne) and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ted and Hulda Schmidt, and brothers Leslie (Shirley) and Wayne (Beth)

Marcy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Port Angeles Saturday April 18th at 1:00pm
