Obituary

Lover of all creatures, great and small and loyal friend to many, Margaret A. Carr took her last nap on January 21, 2025.

Margaret was born in Chewelah, Washington to Aulie and Pat Perrott. They relocated to Spokane when she was two. Her sister, Trish, joined the family when Margaret was six. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, ice skating, swimming, biking, horseback riding, music, and dancing. She was a lifeguard during the summers while she attended college. She overcame childhood asthma to complete the Seattle to Portland (STP) bike race in her 50s. Her fear of flying led her to achieve a private pilot's license at Wright Bros. Aviation in her 60s. She enjoyed giving rides to friends and family.

She graduated from Seattle University with a degree in education. Her first year of teaching was in Hawaii where her late husband, Ron Carr, was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, they returned to his hometown of Port Angeles and built their forever home. She continued her teaching career using her creative talents and big heart to connect to students first at Stevens Middle School teaching English and later at Franklin Elementary School.

She was widowed in 1999; and in 2004 found love again with Allen (Oopie) Hamilton. They enjoyed travel and camping and often took their trailer to dig clams at Kalaloch; and to Maryhill for golfing, wine tasting, and concerts. They recently took Oopie's niece, Bailey, and nephew, Riley, to Hawaii and his nephew to Disneyland.

She embraced her new and old family who mourn her passing. Allen Hamilton, Trish and Kevin Holden, Kersten Carr and her son Jens; Chris Carr, Carla and Brian Dills and their daughters Malissa, Makenzie, Bailey, and their grandson Riley.

She loved many rescued horses, cats, and dogs and supported the local wildlife population. For several years, she volunteered at Peninsula Friends of the Animals and most of her rescues were from there.

A quote from Hunter S. Thompson resonated with her soul and she asked that it be included in her obituary. "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a ride!'".

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an animal rescue facility.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles is entrusted with her arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook for her family at www.drennanford.com .
