Michael Anthony
Rowland
Jul 3, 1959 — Mar 23, 2024
Port Angeles
In this world of uncertainty and confusion, we two have found each other, different yet alike. We have grown together in love and understanding. Please join us to celebrate the life and legacy of Tony Rowland.
Tony was born in Port Angeles on July 3, 1959; he went to school in Cosmopolis and Aberdeen and spent summers with his father and paternal grandparents in Port Angeles and Lake Sutherland.
After graduation, he moved to Port Angeles and started working full time at ITT Rayonier; when the mill shut down in 1997, he went back to school and earned his degree from Peninsula College in Information Technology. He started his IT career at 7 Cedars Casino and then took the opportunity to work at Olympic Medical Center, where his 24th anniversary would have been in April this year.
During his younger years, he was an avid water-skier and loved boating and sailing. Later he enjoyed modeling and RC airplanes. Camping with his family was one of the many things that brought him happiness in addition to his "classic" rock music. He loved sci-fi shows and movies (Star Wars – our sons are Luke and Ben, but he said that wasn't why) and knew so much about airplanes and WWII history. It was impressive.
On January 1, 1982 he and Sally started dating and have been inseparable ever since. The opening lines above were on our wedding invitations when we were married on December 1, 1984.
Family was the foundation for our lives together and Tony was the best husband, greatest father and amazing grandfather. His legacy will live on through his sons and their families – he is so proud of the young men and fathers they have become; a legacy due to his unwavering love and support for his family.
He is survived by his spouse Sally (Kreaman) Rowland; sons Lucas (Chelsea Rhoades) Rowland and Benjamin (Rachel) Rowland; grandchildren Autumn Wilson-Rowland, Zane Michael Rowland, James Anthony Rowland; sisters Tina (Gus) Nilsson of Cosmopolis, Renee Rowland; and nieces and nephews Angela (Dustin) Lorigan, Ashley (Dillon) Dimler, Stephany and Kassy Doll, Kelsey Pirtle, John Pirtle, Jason Fox
His parents William J Rowland, Patricia (Robert) Pirtle, brother Donald Pirtle and grandparents preceded him in death.
We are devastated and at a total loss to lose him so soon, there was so much more he wanted to do, including golfing with his granddaughter. He was so excited to see her passion for the sport that he loved, and we know that Papa is watching her excel from above. He loved building model rockets and playing video games with Zane, and snuggling with James watching Disney channel, with his cat Jasper vying for a spot on his lap.
We had so much more we wanted to do.
Please join us on April 20th, 3pm at the Masonic Temple for a celebration of his life. We will have a potluck style dinner, music, share stories and memories.
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles is entrusted with his arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook for his family at www.drennanford.com .
