Obituary

Nora Rogers passed away suddenly and at home with her husband Ron at her side on February 6, 2022.

Nora was born in Port Angeles March 31, 1952, to Norm and Rita Pollack. After graduating from Port Angeles High School in 1970, Nora attended Seattle University where she graduated in 1974 with a teaching certificate. Nora worked her way through her college years as an employee of a Bartell Drug store and selling her crafts at Pike Place Market.

Nora was hired by the Sequim School District in 1974 where she taught until moving to Arizona in 1978, taking a few years off to raise her newborn son Jesse Clark. Nora moved back to Port Angeles in 1981, taking a job to work on the set of "Officer and a Gentleman" and then for the UPS.

Nora was proud of those years being a Seattle University Cheerleader and working on the movie set of "Officer and a Gentleman", and loved to share great stories about Richard Gere and Debra Winger.

In 1983, Nora returned to teaching when she accepted a job with the Crescent School District. It was also during this year that she met her future husband Ron Rogers while at Lake Crescent. In 1988 Ron and Nora were married at the place on Lake Crescent, where they first met.

In her 37-year career teaching in both the Crescent (Joyce) and Sequim School Districts, Nora touched the lives of easily over a thousand students she taught over those years. She would often tutor students on her own time after the school day was over. Nora Retired from Crescent School District in 2016.

The only priority higher than that of Nora's students were her husband, children, and grandchildren. She seemed to always hope for and leap at the opportunity to give some time and care to make their lives better. She always looked forward to the time she spent taking her grandchildren to practices, games, and any other extracurricular activities they undertook, always there to provide snacks and support, whether needed or not. Nora was an unselfish and giving individual, never expecting anything in return other than the hope that she could make someone else's life better. Nora's greatest gift to herself was that of giving.

Nora always made the best of her "free time", being very much into arts and crafts. She spent many years selling her crafts at the Sequim and Port Angeles Farmer's Market, using the extra money to spend on her family. Between her teaching career and her arts and crafts activities she spent a good portion of her year working 6 days a week.

Nora loved the holidays and seemed to get the most satisfaction from decorating and celebrating them in their home and in her classroom. Christmas was the biggest event of the year, making her home so welcoming for family and guests.

In Nora's retirement years she loved going to garage sales and to flea markets with her husband Ron, having experienced many great adventures in their travels throughout the northwest in their quest of that next "great treasure".

Those who knew Nora will remember her as a very gifted individual, intelligent, selfless, kind, and humble, a beautiful person inside and out; and all the while maintaining a great sense of humor. Nora at times could be very complex, yet simple and unselfish; but, at the end of the day she always managed to put family and friends ahead of herself.

Nora's influence and care reached so many lives in her time on this earth. Including the more than 1,000 students she taught, we were all very fortunate to have her in our lives. Her influence made so many of us better people by just being around her.

She will be missed by so many and her impact on the lives she touched is incalculable. There are no words or assembly of words that can adequately describe what an incredible person she was to all who knew her. In the words of her husband Ron, "My life with Nora for the past 39 years was a privilege and an honor. She was and always will be my hero."

Nora was preceded in in death by her parents Norm and Rita Pollack, and her brother Dan Pollack. She is survived by her husband Ron Rogers, son Jesse Clark, stepdaughter Shauna (Rogers) McClain (Travis) and four grandchildren, all of Port Angeles.

A celebration of life is planned for 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 5th at 2109 W. 7th Street, Port Angeles.
