Obituary

Our beloved brother, Reid Michael Barbieri, lived a life defined by gentleness, kindness, and quiet courage. His loving heart and quiet presence brought comfort to everyone who knew him. Reid passed away the same way he lived—peacefully and gently—on June 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, innocence, resilience, and grace that will forever live in the hearts of his family.

Born on April 15, 1953, to Ray and Nancy Barbieri, Reid was the second of thirteen children. Growing up in a large family, he naturally became a protector and caregiver, helping to raise many of his younger brothers and sisters with steadfast love, patience, and quiet generosity.

Contentment came easily to Reid. He found beauty in life's quiet moments, in the people he loved, and in the wonders of the natural world. Those simple blessings filled his days with meaning.

Through every challenge in his life, Reid met adversity with determination, humility, and quiet strength, never allowing hardship to define the gentle spirit that made him so deeply loved.

Reid found joy in astronomy, science fiction, anime, and the beauty of the natural world. He shared a particularly special bond with the deer that visited his home, who

learned to recognize the sound of his sliding glass door opening as he stepped outside carrying a plate of carefully sliced apples just for them. Watching them gather became one of his quiet daily pleasures.

In his final days, Reid was surrounded by familiar voices and the unwavering love of his family, who walked beside him with devotion and peace. His passing was exceptionally gentle, accompanied by the stirring melody of Amazing Grace played on the bagpipes—a fitting farewell to a man whose own life had quietly embodied grace.

Reid was preceded in death by his father, Ray Barbieri, who passed away on May 22, 2025.He is survived by his beloved mother, Nancy Barbieri; his twelve brothers and sisters—Forest, Fern, Cliff, Cole, Clay, Glen, Laurel, Coral, Holly, Fawn, Buck, and Robin; his brother-in-law, Shane Miller; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the devoted staff of St. Andrew's Place Assisted Living Community in Port Angeles, Washington, whose exceptional care, compassion, and friendship made it a true home for Reid.

As faithfully as Reid spent his life caring for those around him, his family had the profound privilege of surrounding him with that same love and devotion in his final days. It was a final gift to a brother who had quietly given so much of himself to others.

While we mourn his absence, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Reid showed us that love is most often expressed through faithful acts of kindness, patient service, and quiet devotion. His gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his example will continue to inspire compassion for generations to come.

May he now rest in perfect peace, embraced by God's eternal love, his gentle spirit forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Reid's life will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with family and friends as plans are finalized.
