Obituary

Robert (Bob) Houk, passed away peacefully at home from age-related causes. He died with family by his side.

Bob was born in Estherville, Iowa to Clyde and Jessie (Hansen) Houk. At the age of seven, Bob and his family moved to Port Angeles and settled in the Valley also known as "Valley Street". Bob attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1952. After graduation, Bob went to work for ITT Rayonier before joining the Army where he was stationed in Korea. After an honorable discharge in May 1956, Bob went to work for Boeing in Seattle. After working in Seattle, he met Coleen Torrey and they got married in June of 1959. Bob then chose to return to Port Angeles with his wife Coleen and her son Dan. He was hired back at ITT Rayonier and worked his way up to being a Powerhouse Supervisor when he retired in 1989. Bob and Coleen welcomed baby girl Krisanne in 1960 and baby girl Kimberlee in 1963. In 1971, Bob and Coleen divorced. Bob being single, attended a Parents without Partners dinner at Lake Crescent Lodge. At this dinner, he met his second wife, Pauline Ballard. In April 1972 they married, and then added Pauline's daughter Zoe into the family. Bob raised Zoe as one of his own daughters.

Bob and Pauline spent many enjoyable years camping and taking road trips. Their trips took them to Alaska, Nevada, the mid-West, and Arizona. His favorite love was Eastern Washington and lake fishing. In 2012, tragically Pauline passed away suddenly short of their 40th Anniversary. Bob took it very hard and found comfort in his children. Bob later found joy in rescuing a dog named Shi Shi. Bob and Shi were inseparable until the end. When Bob still could drive, he took rides in his van he named his "dog mobile". He loved his mocha coffees while Shi got her treat, a cookie. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching his westerns and Alaska shows on TV.

Bob was predeceased by his wife Pauline, parents Clyde and Jessie Houk. Brothers, Dean and Gene Houk.

Bob is survived by his sister Jenny Wagner, daughter's Zoe (Mike) Hansen, Krisanne (David) Cebelak and Kimberlee Houk.
