Robert F. Pratt, aged 89, passed peacefully at home on Oct. 17, 2023. He was born in Los Angeles, CA to Fred Pratt and Eileen Newton. He grew up in Los Angeles, and Seattle, WA. He was a Korean War veteran for the U.S. Air Force.
He married Åshild "Heidi" Gården of Skien, Norway, (deceased 2023). They were married forty-eight years and had one son, Andrew F. Pratt, of Hailey, ID, and one daughter, Leslie Anne Pratt Howley, deceased in 2019. Andrew is married to Jody (Ravida) Pratt. They have three children, Anja, Ingrid and Stigur, all of Hailey, ID.
Robert held various jobs and businesses. Building Contractor was his main occupation. He also worked as a manager at a restaurant and bar near Mammoth Mountain, CA, where he's reputed to have invented the "Harvey Wallbanger".
Robert's hobbies and interests included sailing, dirt bike riding, handicrafts, photography, skiing, and more. He developed a lifelong curiosity and love of learning. He had an enormous capacity to absorb everything and forgetting nothing.
He was very industrious and would quickly gain competence in everything he pursued. He hired a man who showed him how to build his home in Issaquah, WA, while Robert worked nights at 13 Coins in Seattle. From overseeing the building of his house, he became a building contractor. He specialized in remodeling and had a real talent for indulging and applying his clients interests when he designed for them.
He was well known for his charismatic personality. He likewise was a lifelong dreamer with a wide imagination, plus the industrious commitment to bring those to dreams reality. He put his entire heart into his many endeavors, working very hard to bring those dreams to success.
Robert was very recognizable about town, wearing his "signature" black hat.
In 2013, Robert retired in Sequim, WA and redirected his life and commitment to Christ. He became involved in outreach and support of the prisoners at the Clallam County Jail. He expanded his time, also volunteering at Clallam Bay Prison. He kept contact with many of the inmates.
He married Pat Gordon of Sequim, WA on Sept. 15, 2018. They shared five wonderful years together.
In 2022, they joined the Carlsborg Family Church, in Carlsborg, WA. He shared how his faith in Jesus developed and grew immensely over his last decade of human life. He'd always followed Christ and the church, but he commonly expressed how his commitment became far more real to his heart over the last decade. He particularly felt at home and valued at Carlsborg Family Church and had many friends there.
He loved living in Sequim and was grateful and appreciative of his many friends locally.
Services for Robert will be held at Carlsborg Family Church on November 4, 2023 at 11 a.m. Friends and family will meet thereafter at the family home, 346 Glenns Valley Road, Sequim, WA, immediately after the service.
