Rosalee Ruth
Bingham
Jul 16, 1929 — Apr 30, 2021
Port Angeles
Rosalee passed in her home, at the age of 91, on April 30, 2021. She was warmly surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Rosalee was born July 16, 1929, in Lynden, Washington to Leroy Kingsley Guy and Edna (Twiss) Guy. As a young child Rosalee lived on a farm in Lyndon. After her father passed, when she was 8 years old, she moved to Olympia with her mother and sister Virginia (Guy) Haines. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1947, then attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon where she met her husband Vance F. Bingham and graduated in 1951.
Rosalee and Vance were married on March 3, 1951, in Olympia, WA.
Their deep friendship, love and marriage spanned nearly 70 years. During their early years Rosalee and Vance lived in Seattle while Vance served two years in the United States Navy, after which they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Vance worked in the family auto parts chain and Rosalee taught in primary school. In 1955 Rosalee and Vance returned to Seattle for Vance to attend the UW School of Dentistry. While Vance attended college, Rosalee again taught school, and was busy caring for son Vance Jr. (born in 1955) and daughter Kathy (born in 1957). Once Vance completed dental school in 1960, Rosalee and Vance moved their family to Port Angeles to start a dental practice. Son David joined the family soon after (born 1961).
Once settled in Port Angeles Rosalee and Vance became active in the Port Angeles First Baptist Church where she maintained membership until the day of her passing. Rosalee was unwavering in her Christian faith and shared that with family and others in her life.
She was a 60-year member of PEO in Port Angeles, as a charter member of chapter CR, and later a member of chapter FM. She especially loved to work on educational scholarships* for women. After her children all were off to college and beyond, she joined Vance in their dental practice as the office manager for 25 years.
Rosalee was loved by friends for her welcoming nature, the door to her home was always opened with a smile. To her last days, Rosalee maintained lifelong friendships with childhood and college friends, others from Vance's Navy and dental school years, and the deep friendships she formed in Port Angeles.
Rosalee was known for her steadfast love and service to the lord, her husband, family, friends and church. Her greatest joy was days spent with family and friends, on whatever adventure Vance cooked up. Rosalee loved to pack up the family for sailing, skiing, and hiking rain or shine as long as they were together. This was the hallmark of her marriage, family, and her unwavering trust in her husband Vance.
Rosalee was preceded in death by her parents and sister Virginia, and her husband Vance in 2015. Rosalee is survived by her children Vance K. Bingham (Renton), Kathy Bassett (Lacey) and David and wife Janice (White) Bingham (Port Angeles); niece Barbara (Haines) Collier; and grandchildren Megan Bassett and husband Geoff Phillips, Kelly Bingham, Christopher Bingham, Ryan, wife Ronni and children Davanee and Ryatt Bingham; and Kyle and wife Vanesa Bingham; and a number of Guy and Twiss family cousins.
