Obituary

Steve Smith was an amazing man. He joined his brother, Bob, and parents in Heaven on February 1st, 2022. He was born in Port Angeles, Wa on Aug 16, 1949 to Ruth Moe and Ken Smith.

As a kid, Steve grew up having fun and causing mischief with his friends and relatives whether in Sequim neighborhoods or after services at the Assembly of God Church.

He was an active member and graduate of Sequim high school, playing multiple sports as well as participating in plays and after school clubs. After high school, Steve attended college in Eastern Washington attaining Masters degrees in both audiology and speech therapy.

Steve married Trudi Gault (1970-1998) and they lived in Spokane, WA. In 1975 they had a set of twins (Korey and Kevin) while living in Spokane and returned to Sequim to raise their family a few years later. After returning, Steve started his 40 plus year real estate career and in 1982 adopted a second set of twins (Mathew and Sarah) to complete their growing family.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Alaska, especially when he could do these things with his kids and brother Bob. Every year, he looked forward to traveling to Yakima for bird hunting with his family and friends. Steve married Shelly Ley in October of 2008 and enjoyed the addition of her daughter Rebekah, son Josh and two more grandkids to the family. They enjoyed spending time with their kids and grandkids at their property in Sequim.

Steve's great appreciation of the community he grew up in contributed to his generosity and support of community members, youth sports and local charities.

He is survived by his wife Shelly Smith, son Korey(Mikie) Smith, Kevin Smith, Mathew(Crystal) Smith, Sarah(Derek) Huntington, step son Josh Ley, step daughter Rebekah Ley and 9 grandchildren.
