Susan Marie "Helpenstell" LaBelle, 64, of Port Angeles died on May 2nd, 2022 after a tough battle with cancer.

She was born February 13, 1958, to Jack and Beatrice Helpenstell, one of four children. Susan was an outgoing and courageous child from the start, she loved spending time with her siblings, friends and her horses "Slate" and "Princess". From competition to trail riding, she was with them daylight to dawn.

Susan married Robert B. LaBelle in 1986 and the couple had three children, Lacey (LaBelle) Swanberg, Chance LaBelle, and Lexus LaBelle. Her children were the center of her world, she devoted all her time to raising and spending time with her kids. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years until later in life she took up landscaping, caregiving, and then became a Certified Medical Assistant thru Peninsula College.

Susan took pride in her home, spending much time in her garden, planting flowers, and maintaining the property. Her home was always open to anyone, she enjoyed her family and friends. She was a true animal lover. Horses, dogs, and cats were a huge part of her life. Susan had a heart of gold, known for helping lost or stray animals find their forever home.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Lacey (Jason) Swanberg, Chance LaBelle, & Lexus LaBelle. Her brothers John (Melene) Helpenstell, Dan (Pam) Helpenstell, and sister Diane Heckathorn. She will forever be in their hearts and missed every day!
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Bea Helpenstell.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at 2:00PM, Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at the Sequim Elks.
