On November 6, 2021, Sylvia Joyce Wanner, passed away peacefully at her home in Port Angeles, WA at the age of 80 years old after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Sylvia was born on September 19, 1941 in Seattle, WA.

She grew up in Ohio and graduated high school in Redondo Beach, CA.

Sylvia grew up with a passion for ballet and followed her dreams to study at the San Francisco Ballet.

In California she met and married her husband, Theodore Wanner, in 1960. It was there they had their son, Mike, followed by their daughter, Tammy.

Shortly after, they moved to Washington and settled in the Port Angeles area for the next 52 years. During this time, Sylvia became an active school board member and progressive advocate for her community. She continued her passion for dance by opening her own ballet studio, The Ballet Workshop, in Port Angeles in 1970.

Sylvia impacted many lives through the 48 successful years of The Ballet Workshop and shared her love for the ballet with the community with multiple ballet productions throughout the years that showcased her creative mind and gift for the art of dance.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Theodore Wanner; her children: Mike (Carrie) Wanner of Bend, OR and Tammy (Edward) Weenink of Bothell, WA; her brother Doug (Holly) Anderson of San Luis Obispo, CA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
