Obituary

Tim passed away December 23rd, 2025, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at Eagles, Port Angeles on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Tim was born May 10th, 1958, in Port Angeles, Washington to Fred & Sharon (Boots) Balser. Tim is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Tammy, granddaughters Ariana and Isabel; sister Cindi Foley (Darick Duncan), brother Mat Balser and nieces Caitlin, Allison, Emily and Jessica Balser. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew Greg Kreider and several beloved Labrador dogs.

Tim attended school in Port Angeles and graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1977. Tim was tinkering on stuff at a very young age, building a tractor, motorcycles, motors for his hot rods. He was known for his street racing and outrunning the cops including his dad Sergeant Fred Balser. One of his first jobs was driving truck for his neighbor Archie Nailor who owned Angeles Concrete. Tim had a tractor's permit and rode his bicycle to work. In high school, Tim worked at the garbage dump ran by Lloyd Carr, another mentor in his life. After high school, Tim went to work on the road with the Tin Man, baling tin like a bale of hay.

While working with the Tin Man in Phoenix, Arizona, Tim met Debbie Gokie at Mr. Lucky's. Tim married Debbie in 1983, celebrating 44 years together. Tim and Debbie lived on the road in many cities including Spokane, Santa Rosa and Las Vegas, finally making their home in Port Angeles.

Tim worked at the gravel pit with Bugs, Jim West, Inc. Tim logged many years with Hermann Bros., working directly with Fred Hermann. At Hermann Bros., Tim operated Timberjack 933C log skidder. In 1992, Tim demonstrated the log skidder for Timberjack at a logging show held in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Tim had back surgery in 1995 then ventured into his own business, Balser Construction Inc., buying his own dump truck & equipment. Tim was a natural at operating equipment and took pride at being his own mechanic. Tim spent many years grooming the motorcycle track at Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club where he also took pride in watching his daughter ride. He even groomed the hill climb! Tim spent a few years traveling to California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah promoting his daughter's quad racing. The last few years working, Tim was dedicated to building logging roads for Bekkevar Logging & Trucking.

Tim loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, shrimping and clam digging. So many stories and memories! He was a home body, loved watching football (Go Hawks!!) and westerns, and loved home-cooked meals, always eating what he harvested. Tim will be forever loved by his family and friends.
