Obituary

William (Bill) Richardson passed away at age 92 surrounded by family on the farm where he had lived for the past 65 years.  Bill was born to George and Ruth Richardson at Lake Norden, South Dakota. The family moved to Snohomish where Bill attended school. He studied at Everett Community College and graduated from Seattle Pacific College, where he earned a teaching degree. His passions were fishing, hunting, playing basketball, baseball, and football…and playing pranks on his friends.

Bill married Elizabeth Corey of Joyce, WA in 1953 and, upon completion of his college education, the couple moved to Joyce where Bill began teaching at Crescent School.  Over the course of his career, he taught every grade except 1st and 2nd, coached basketball, football, track, drove a school bus, and taught driver's education.  After retiring, Bill continued to substitute teach and coach at various schools on the Olympic Peninsula including Neah Bay, Clallam Bay, and Forks.

All his life, Bill thrived in the outdoors; backpacking the Olympics, fishing, hiking, hunting, even teaching his classes outside when possible. He is respected for his faith and honored for his service to the community, including as a volunteer at Clallam Bay Corrections Center for over 20 years, and overseas in charitable construction projects.

Bill is survived by his wife of 72 years, 12 children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, January 11th at 2:00 pm, in the Crescent School Gym, Joyce, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Bill be honored with donations to Joyce Bible Church for Joyce Hope Academy or Clean Water Projects in Africa.  Include your preferred charity with the gift and deliver or mail to Joyce Bible Church, PO Box 4, Joyce WA 98343.
